Orange blossom, fresh strawberry, and a little white pepper, then juicy and creamy with crisp acidity and a salty watermelon-citrus finish. Donnachadh is Drew and Laurie Duncan’s family estate on Santa Rosa Road. They were inspired by Burgundy and the Northern Rhône, and they planted the vineyard in 2013 on marine shale, sandy loam, and river gravel, where morning fog and ocean breeze keep things cool. It’s certified organic and made by Ernst Storm, one of the quiet greats of Santa Barbara County. Whole clusters go straight to the press, ferment in stainless steel, and rest five months on the lees for that creamy texture, and only 150 cases are made. So pretty.
