Herdade do Rocim ‘Goivo’ Vinho Verde 2024
Loureiro 40% + Arinto 40% + Trajadura 20% • Vinho Verde, Portugal
Lime and green apple with a little peach and a light spritz, low in alcohol and built for gulping. Herdade do Rocim is an estate in the Alentejo, way down in southern Portugal. Movicortes, a Portuguese farm-machinery company, bought it in 2000, and Catarina Vieira, the daughter of the company’s founder, runs it. Goivo, (a slang for 'happiness' in Portuguese), is their trip north into Vinho Verde: three of the region’s native grapes, certified organic, made light and dry with that signature little prickle. Simple, bright, and exactly what a hot day calls for.
Pair it with: grilled sardines, a squeeze of lemon, the hottest afternoon of the summer.
