Juicy, vivid, and wonderfully inviting, this Barbera opens with blackberry, dark cherry, plum, violet, and a touch of spice, with a bright, lifted energy that keeps everything precise and fresh. We call it electric blueberry energy.  On the palate, it is silky and vibrant, with dark fruit, lively acidity, gentle oak spice.  Great pizza wine!

Region / Appellation: Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG, Piedmont, Italy. The fruit for Ca’ di Pian comes from vineyards in Castagnole delle Lanze, Costigliole d’Asti, and Montegrosso d’Asti, from south-facing sites on calcareous soils at around 300 meters of elevation.

Style / ABV: Dry red wine; 14.5% ABV. The wine is fermented on the skins for about 6 to 7 days, then aged for 12 months in French oak barriques, followed by time in bottle before release.
