Marcel Lapierre 'Le Beaujolais' 2025 Gamay • Beaujolais AOC, France
bright cherry and silky violet, light on its feet but with real depth for something this easygoing, people call it a baby Morgon for a reason.
Marcel Lapierre took over his family's domaine in 1973 and became one of the founding fathers of the natural wine movement, working alongside the chemist Jules Chauvet and the so-called "Gang of Four" to prove organic farming and zero-additive winemaking could make serious wine. this bottling comes from fifty-to-eighty-year-old vines on sandy, decomposed granite just outside the Morgon border, made the traditional way with whole clusters and carbonic maceration. a hundred-plus years in, and it still tastes like the real thing. it’s our go to bottle right now!
pair it with: roast chicken straight out of the oven, a slight chill on the glass, no occasion needed.
