Vincent Girardin Meursault Vieilles Vignes 2022
A classic white Burgundy from old vines in Meursault, this Chardonnay opens with ripe orchard fruit, citrus, white flowers, toasted hazelnut, and gentle buttery notes, carried by a mineral edge that gives the wine lift and precision. On the palate, it is layered and polished, with a rounded texture, fresh acidity, and a long, graceful finish that makes it especially beautiful with lobster, roast chicken, creamy pasta, or simply as a celebratory bottle on its own.

Key Details:

Producer: Vincent Girardin — a historic Burgundian house founded in 1980 by Vincent Girardin, from a Santenay winegrowing family with roots going back to the 17th century. The house is now led by a small team, with Eric Germain continuing the style of the wines, focused heavily on the great terroirs of the Côte de Beaune.

Region / Appellation: Meursault, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France. This cuvée is sourced from multiple village-level Meursault parcels around the commune, including sites such as Sous la Velle, Corbin, Dressolles, Clos du Cromin, and Vireuils.

Varietal: 100% Chardonnay.

Vintage: 2022.

Style / ABV: Dry white Burgundy; 13.0% ABV. This wine comes from vines averaging about 50 years old, harvested by hand. Reporting on this cuvée also describes fermentation in 500L French oak barrels with modest new oak and extended lees aging, which fits the wine’s textured, layered style.

Why It’s Special: Meursault is one of Burgundy’s benchmark villages for Chardonnay, and this bottling draws from mature vines across several respected village parcels, giving it both depth and classic appellation character. The old-vine material, careful hand harvest, and élevage aimed at preserving texture and freshness make this a beautifully expressive example of Meursault.

Food Pairing: Excellent with lobster, scallops, roast chicken, mushroom dishes, creamy risotto, or aged cheeses. Its combination of richness, freshness, and mineral drive makes it especially versatile at the table.
